| This performance concluded the homonymous
exhibition. Andros decided to destroy part of the sculptures showed.
Just as if they had "no commercial value", like products with an expiry
date, now that the exhibition was over, they had no value: argument on
which the exhibition was about. In line with the philosophy of our
times, if something is useless it is thrown away, destroyed. The truth
is, very few believed that Andros would be faithful to his
announcement: it seemed impossible that an artist would have to
destroyed his own works! But he did. Without mercy, he finished off a
dozen of sculptures, that, filled up with false blood,
“died” bleeding copiously. |

Questa performance concludeva l’omonima
mostra: avevo subito annunciato che l’ultimo giorno di mostra
una parte delle sculture esposte sarebbero state distrutte. Come
“campioni senza valore”, come opere con scadenza,
argomento su cui verteva la personale. Finita la mostra, avevano
assolto il loro compito e non servivano più: secondo la
filosofia corrente, se una cosa non serve la si butta, la si distrugge.
In verità, quasi nessuno credette al mio annuncio:
soprattutto alcuni artisti, pensavano fosse un bluff, (sembrava loro
impossibile che un artista distruggesse le proprie opere!),
così il giorno della performance c’era una certa
attesa, molti erano convinti che non lo avrei fatto o che ne avrei
distrutta al massimo una, magari la più piccola... Senza
pietà, ne distrussi una dozzina, che avevo riempito di
sangue finto, senza avvertire nessuno. Fu un bagno di sangue fuori
programma. |
